The Plain Janes

The Plain Janes

Each of the sisters that make up The Plain Janes claims to be the epitome of your ordinary, average girl-next-door.  But truthfully they are quite the opposite of what the name suggests. Far from plain, this group of young women is creating a buzz with their rootsy brand of folk music. Drawing on a range of musical influences, they offer an acoustic sound that is very much their own.

The Plain Janes (formerly known as The Vissia Sisters) needed a new website to reflect the image of their new brand:  less country-folksy, but more mature, rootsy, and polished.  Their new website needed to be all about their brand and identity, yet integrate well with existing social networking and artist management tools that are popular among musicians and their fans, such as MySpace, flickr, Twitter, and Sonic Bids.

The project, led by band manager Alex Vissia, fuses a solid, roots-oriented design with the playfulness that reflects their age and informs their music.  The website presents the band's latest blog and microblog entries, songs and lyrics, and fun multimedia to attract, grow, and maintain their loyal fan base.

The Plain Jane's new website presents all of the details about these talented young musicians with engaging, familiar graphics and a fun to navigate layout.  The design has a professional polish that suits the maturity of the three sisters, but is neither boring nor stuffy.   Driven by their blogs and micro-blogs, the band members are able to keep content fresh and relevant by simply posting to their blogs or updating their tweets.  As they continue to collect new press reviews, awards, and recommendations, they can easily log into a custom back-end to edit their articles.
